Fibrex® is the backbone of Renewal by Andersen® of Northwest Ohio’s windows. This patented composite is made of reclaimed wood fibers and thermoplastic polymer, allowing it to outperform and outlast any of its counterparts on the market.
To appreciate what our Fibrex material brings to the table, let’s explore how it stacks up against other window materials:
Wood
Our Fibrex-framed windows share the rigidity and stability of wood products, but not their susceptibility to decay. During our innovative manufacturing process, our special polymer formulation surrounds and coats every individual wood fiber, lending it exceptional resistance to rot and fungal growth. While timber’s stiffness is higher, it’s less predictable because of wood’s natural variations, such as moisture content, knots and grain. Fibrex never needs scraping or painting, and is warrantied not to flake, peel, blister, pit, crack or corrode for 20 years.
Vinyl
Fibrex is twice as strong as vinyl. It won’t bow or crack with extreme changes in temperature, allowing it to retain its weather-tight seal year after year. Our revolutionary composite is so strong that we can afford to make our frames narrower without giving up durability. But like vinyl products, our windows only need minimal maintenance.
Aluminum
When it comes to thermal insulation, Fibrex performs 700 times better than aluminum. In fact, aluminum was rejected as a window framing option in the 1950s due to high conduction of heat and cold.
Fiberglass
Fiberglass is a promising window material since it’s extremely energy-efficient. However, it has proven to require a lot of maintenance because it’s painted. Plus, it can only be made into straight lineals, which limits window designs.
On the other hand, our Fibrex material can be made in practically any profile. Our unique extrusion process allows us to push the envelope of window shaping. Apart from the usual squares and rectangles, our windows also come in curved styles.
