The arrival of spring often means cleaning and maintaining your home. You may have already planned out the areas that require your attention. Make sure, however, not to forget your windows. Here are four spring window cleaning tips and tricks to keep in mind.
1. Clean out the screens. Cleaning your windows doesn’t only have to mean cleaning the glass panels. You can also take your removable screen out and clean it. Simply give it a good brushing with a household cleaner. Make sure to spray both sides with a water hose and let them dry.
2. Use a cleaning solution. Use a squeegee, a clean dry cloth and a bottle of window cleaning solution to clean your glass until it is clear again. If a commercial cleaner isn’t available, mixing warm water with some vinegar should do the trick.
3. Use a cloth instead of a newspaper. Cleaning your replacement windows using a newspaper or paper towel is not recommended because it creates a static charge on the glass that will attract dust and dirt. Use a soft and lint-free cloth instead.
4. Choose a cloudy day to clean your windows. It might be tempting to clean your windows during a sunny day, but it’s usually more counterproductive. The sun’s rays will make your cleaning solution dry faster and leave streaks on the glass. Try to choose a day that is more cloudy than sunny to give you ample time to clean out your windows.
